Many years ago, when I was still new to the SCA, I attended an event at Camp Abbey in Louisiana. All the garb I had taken was for cold weather - we're talking flannel and wool. There was an unseasonable warm snap and I was roasting in my garb.

Time came to go to court and I was concerned about sitting in a hot, closed-in space with lots of other people. A lady heard my concern and GAVE me one of her chemises.

I never knew that lady's name and was never able to repay her kindness - but that was a true act of chivalry. Never have I forgotten that a perfect stranger gave me such sincere charity without asking or accepting anything in return.

If you are out there my lady - THANK YOU
